WOMEN ARE WEAKER SEX!!! TRUE OR FALSE?

It is no more news that women all over the world are often regarded as the weaker sex by the male folks and even some females have come to accept the term and have often let men trample upon them just because they feel they are the ‘weaker’ sex and ‘after all it’s a man’s world’ they would say.

It is really impressing that most women have come to know that the world was not created just for men and that certain things have now changed. Women go through the role of care-takers even from a very tender age as is common in African societies. As girls, the females are the ones who are told to look after the homes when the mothers are away, they clean the house, wash the plates and clothes, most times cook the food and in general see to the cleanliness and welfare of the younger siblings, while the boys are left to play football and loiter around leaving the girls to do the back-aching and stressful chores at home yet she is called a ‘weaker’ sex.

As they grow older and enter into romantic relationships with the male folks, they still cook, wash and clean the houses of their spouses whenever they visit, while the so-called ‘sterner’ sex lazy around and can’t even keep a place clean without the help of a woman.

It is rather ridiculous that the male folks would identify their female counterpart as ‘weaker’ sex, because even in marriage the men do little compared to the women in the upkeep of the house and child(ren), he goes to work and comes back home to enjoy the comfort of the house which is kept by the woman. When she becomes pregnant, the woman carries the baby in her womb for nine long and stressful months, most times when she complains of pains the husband simply laughs it off because they do not feel or know the pains of pregnancy, during child birth the woman risks death in order to bring life, as the child is born she is introduced to greater responsibilities-to the child, the husband and the home in general.

At this stage she performs more chores as she feeds, bathes and takes care of the baby, the house and her husband, and she sees to the management of the three effectively and efficiently. She also becomes a teacher and role model to the child. When the baby cries at night she feels it and rushes off to know the cause of the unrest, she doesn’t sleep well just because of the baby.

In the early hours of the morning she wakes up to prepare meals for her husband and the baby before he leaves for work and when he does, she cleans the home and has to prepare the meals for her husband’s return all the while taking care of the baby. She repeats this routine for as many children she would have.

I know the guys would probably say ‘’we also help in the house’’, yes of course, you mow the lawn, fix one or two things around the house, but these chores are done at spare times, while the woman performs the routine at regular and specific times since the baby and the husband have to be taken care of at specified hours else, she would be termed ‘LAZY’.

The women perform more tasking jobs than the men because they go through emotional, psychological, spiritual and physical development alongside the child, she is more involved in these stages of the child’s growth than the father is, so much that when the child develops bad habit the mother is blamed for this, hence, she suffers emotional trauma over the outcome of the child. The woman goes through all these with as many children as she has till death, yet she is being referred to as a ‘weaker’ sex.

The common belief and referring to women as ‘weaker’ sex in the African society does not just end with chores in the home, there is some sort of mental slavery imposed in some African traditional settings, where women are denied of right to their views and opinions. Sometimes, women are even denied of their right to inheritance still in the name of weaker sex…or weaker vessels as referred to in the Bible.

This is not in any way befitting for the female gender, and should be reversed because women are not in any sense weak, rather are strong even more than their male counterpart.
Men and Women have argued this in different quarters, from different point of views, lets hear what YOU think???
